For families

If you are arranging care for someone you love

Most people who call us have never arranged care before, and are doing it at a difficult moment. Here is exactly what happens, so there are no surprises.

How arranging care works

  1. Step 1

You call and we talk it through

No forms first. A conversation about what happens on a normal day now, what has changed, and what is getting hard. If we are not the right service we will say so and try to point you somewhere better.

  2. Step 2

    We visit and assess together

We come out to see you and the person who needs support. We complete a risk assessment with them, not about them — identifying where the real risks are and agreeing how to reduce them without taking away choices that matter.

  3. Step 3

We write the support plan with you

The plan says what happens, when, and who does it. The person being supported is at the centre of it, and family are involved where that is what they want.

  4. Step 4

    The same faces turn up

Continuity is the part families tell us matters most. We keep the team around a person as consistent as we can, so nobody has to explain themselves again every week.

  5. Step 5

We review it, because things change

Needs move. The plan moves with them. You do not have to wait for a review to ask for something to change — call us.

If you are the one doing the caring

Our sitting service exists so you can have a few hours back

A lot of the people who ring us are unpaid family carers who have not had an afternoon to themselves in months. The sitting service is simply this: one of our care team sits with your relative, on a plan you have agreed, so you can go out.

It can be regular or occasional. All our care staff are fully trained and hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service certificate.

Ask us anything, including the awkward questions

What it costs, what happens if it is not working, what we do if someone refuses help. Families ask us all of these and we would rather answer them now than later.
